After having studied literature and business, Fran moved into a design career and co-founded Series Eight in 2015. Still heavily involved in creative, Fran’s main focus is making sure Series Eight is an inspiring place to be. You’ll usually find Fran refining processes, promoting internal culture, finding new ways to grow and improve the company and keeping the CEO in check.

Working at the intersection of digital design and brand identity, Bruno's had the privilege of collaborating with a variety of clients, and has honed his skills in delivering high-value solutions for the web. He also has a degree in Industrial Design.

Bruno

Biel is a digital product designer based in Majorca. He specialises in UX/UI design for responsive websites and mobile apps, basing his principles on user-centred design. Through interviews, diagrams, empathy maps, personas, and wireframes, he develops interactive prototypes to demonstrate real solutions for real problems.

Nate is a Brand and UI Designer based in the north of England. He started making websites at school and fell in love with it. We started out, just the two of us, in an East London basement studio back in 2015. Fast forward to today, we're a twenty-person team of experts in branding, UX, UI, front-end development and marketing. Working from home, long before WFH was even a thing, we criss-cross timezones and collaborate across borders - mixing up work and play, every day.

We took inspiration from the current Hearts of London site, using a similar colour palette and iconography, but elevating the typography and entire design to give a cleaner look and feel. Queensmith already had a collection of beautiful product and lifestyle photography, so we stripped everything back to let the imagery do the talking. 

Refining and aligning a brand image

Enabling users to buy ready-to-wear rings online meant offering a huge amount of options. From the metal and diamond shape right down to colour, cut, and clarity - everything could be fully customised before it was added to the basket. This meant applying special logic, creating complex filters, and ensuring order information could be directly submitted via an integration with Claris FileMaker.

But it wasn’t just the ring selection process that needed a simple, easy-to-use interface - we also created a bespoke check-out that included options to select delivery, create an account, as well the process payment.

The site was going to hold a huge amount of information, and the team at Queensmith would need to update and maintain the content going forward. That’s why we adopted an atomic approach to design, creating a strong style guide to ensure consistency across all elements and developing flexible content blocks in a whole host of variations so that the site could easily evolve over time.

Carv’s in-app Ski:IQ™ leaderboard was key to spreading brand awareness within the ski community. But Carv also wanted to create an online hub for skiers, whether they be app users or not. We created a ‘What’s new’ page for the site that would sit in the top navigation and offer updates from the team. Plus, we developed an engaging, interactive blog that could be regularly updated with winter sports content going forward.

Creating a sense of community

Since we’d developed Carv’s previous site, we took a deep dive into the analytics to discover how to get even better results. We took inspiration from market leaders, refined the colour palette, and went even bolder with typography to elevate the brand whilst ensuring the look and feel remained consistent across existing channels - including the app.
