Biel is a digital product designer based in Majorca. He specialises in UX/UI design for responsive websites and mobile apps, basing his principles on user-centred design. We love to learn, especially from each other. We’re constantly honing our design, development, and copywriting skills, and mastering new platforms and features. Because the best learners are the lifelong ones.

We love to learn.

We share honest feedback and challenge ideas, but we also focus on the common ground. We’ll challenge things for the sake of better work, but never just because. No one’s got time for that.

Series Eight is a digital agency that knows the internet and people in equal measure. End users, browsers, audiences, customers. We get them because we are them. And because we spend more time online than most, we’ve made a business of understanding what keeps us scrolling, searching, sharing and clicking.

We started out, just the two of us, in an East London basement studio back in 2015. Fast forward to today, we're a twenty-person team of experts in branding, UX, UI and front-end development. Working from home, long before WFH was even a thing, we criss-cross timezones and collaborate across borders - mixing up work and play, every day.

We took inspiration from the current Hearts of London site, using a similar colour palette and iconography, but elevating the typography and entire design to give a cleaner look and feel. Queensmith already had a collection of beautiful product and lifestyle photography, so we stripped everything back to let the imagery do the talking. 

Refining and aligning a brand image

Enabling users to buy ready-to-wear rings online meant offering a huge amount of options. From the metal and diamond shape right down to colour, cut, and clarity - everything could be fully customised before it was added to the basket. This meant applying special logic, creating complex filters, and ensuring order information could be directly submitted via an integration with Claris FileMaker.

But it wasn’t just the ring selection process that needed a simple, easy-to-use interface - we also created a bespoke check-out that included options to select delivery, create an account, as well the process payment.

The site was going to hold a huge amount of information, and the team at Queensmith would need to update and maintain the content going forward. That’s why we adopted an atomic approach to design, creating a strong style guide to ensure consistency across all elements and developing flexible content blocks in a whole host of variations so that the site could easily evolve over time.

Engo armed us with a logo - and we brought a whole lot of ideas. To showcase a premium brand, we needed a bank of assets. We carried out art direction for photography and video content, crafted bespoke iconography, and created a high-impact design and colour palette that aligned with Engo’s already live mobile app.

A shared vision from the start

The user journey on each page was focused on the ‘why’: introducing features, benefits, and testimonials from happy customers. As well as including detailed 3D renders, we used point-of-view photography to showcase the Engo eyewear experience. Plus, our looping videos illustrated not only how the real-time data is presented on the lenses, but how they adapt to changing light. 


Taking show and tell to a new level

The user journey on each page was focused on the ‘why’: introducing features, benefits, and testimonials from happy customers. As well as including detailed 3D renders, we used point-of-view photography to showcase the Engo eyewear experience. Plus, our looping videos illustrated not only how the real-time data is presented on the lenses, but how they adapt to changing light. 

It was important that users really engaged with the site, so we built an interactive tool that allowed them to select frame colours and lens types to gain a better understanding of the product in action. Clicking on aspects of the product would trigger specific animations, while a banner of how-to videos highlighted specific functionality and acted as a bank of resources for those that had already purchased.
